Muscular Disorder

A muscular disorder is a condition when the muscles weaken and get damaged over time. This neurological condition occurs due to a deficiency of dystrophin protein.

There are several types of muscular dystrophy:

Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD): It is the most common form of muscular disorder among children (especially males) at birth.

Becker muscular dystrophy (BMD): It is less severe than DMD.

Congenital muscular dystrophy: This condition is found both in both males and females by the age of 2 years

Facioscapulohumeral (FSHD): This condition is also known as Landouzy-Dejerine disease. The face, shoulders and upper arms get affected in this condition.

Myotonic: It is a condition in which a person cannot relax muscles. The signs are first visible on the face and neck.

Limb-girdle muscular dystrophy (LGMD): A person gets weakened and loses muscle bulk. The symptoms are first seen on the face and shoulders.
